The Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies stands with Jewish Family Service of Colorado, its member agency which serves the Boulder community, as it launches a series of mental health offerings to strengthen and sustain the community.

Last Sunday’s violent attack on a group of community members who were gathered to bring attention to the ongoing plight of the remaining hostages in Gaza, resulted in several who are critically injured including among them one Holocaust survivor. The parallels to the Nazi period are too frightening. This incident follows the murders in DC, only two weeks ago, and the firebombing of the Pennsylvania Governor’s home in April. Each act was fueled by hate and grounded in antisemitism. Jewish human service agencies have far too much experience supporting individuals and communities who have suffered greatly following acts of antisemitic violence and tragic loss of life. And Statements such as this one are becoming far too frequent.

May these tragedies serve as a call to action for elected officials to ensure that antisemitic hate crimes are met with swift legal responses and may our nation return to its roots as being a safe haven for all.
