As we have all seen, the COVID-19 vaccine roll out in the US and Canada has been disjointed, confusing and fraught with complications. Eligible community members, particularly older adults, are struggling to navigate the complex online systems needed to schedule a vaccine appointment. Young adults with sophisticated internet navigation skills and a strong desire to support their communities make ideal volunteers for this critical effort. Powered by Repair the World, EDCJCC, and GW Hillel, the Vaccine Appointment Network is a project template for a community-based program matching tech-savvy volunteers with eligible older adults to facilitate the securing of vaccine appointments. The CEO/COO Check in Chat, scheduled for Wednesday, March 17 at 4pm ET will be devoted to this topic exclusively. Please invite your agency colleagues (volunteer or eldercare staff) as you see fit. By the end of the Chat, you will have access to a full toolkit—including draft emails, volunteer management best practices, and sample documents—to help you to launch a Vaccine Appointment Network in your community.
