Special Request for NJHSA Agencies to Support College Students During COVID-19:

KAHAL, a global organizing creating transformational Jewish experiences for thousands of study abroad students worldwide each year, has reached out to NJHSA for help during this moment of crisis.

At KAHAL, they believe strongly in the power of the Global Jewish family and are committed to supporting Jewish students studying abroad even when experiences change due to unforeseen circumstances, like COVID-19.

As study abroad alumni, the KAHAL team understands how meaningful their time abroad has been and how hard it must be to have to change plans, countries, and often academic focus mid-semester.

This situation has challenged students mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially. To mitigate the academic effects of the coronavirus, KAHAL has created a multi-faceted program, to accommodate students with different needs. Together with local Jewish human service agencies, KAHAL aims to offer:

  • Counseling and other mental health services
  • Vocational support and internship placement services
  • A firm sense of belonging to and value within the Jewish people

If your agency would like to participate and offer services to students and families in your area impacted by program and university closures, please reach out to KAHAL’s Exeuctive Director, Alex Jakubowski, at alex@KahalAbroad.org or by phone at 847-212-8777.

Neshama: National Association of Jewish Chaplains, a new member agency of our Network is prepared to have chaplains assist communities and agencies in addressing the spiritual effects and dimensions of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Chaplains are able to provide support to agency professionals as well as to community members and specific communities struggling with the impact the virus.

To obtain services for your agency/community, please contact either Rabbi Bryan Kinzbrunner, NAJC President at bkinzbrunner@jewishchaplain.net or Rabbi Moe Kaprow, Interim Executive Director at mkaye1@earthlink.net (407-415-3322), or by calling the NAJC office at 305-394-8018.
