October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Elaine Rotenberg, Chair of the Network’s Clinical Services Affinity Group and a licensed clinical psychologist at Alpert Jewish Family Service wrote, “How domestic abuse can fall through the cracks,” which was published in the Palm Beach Post on October 21st.
“This month marks another Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an annual opportunity to raise awareness of the pervasiveness of domestic violence in our community and to remind survivors, men and women, that they are not alone.
Raising awareness about domestic violence itself is not enough. Too often the word “violence” can get in the way and prevent victims of domestic abuse from acknowledging the danger they are in. Domestic abuse is the larger problem.”
