Never Again (Holocaust) Education Act Sign on Letter

Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) is the lead sponsor of the Never Again (Holocaust) Education Act, H.R. 943. Representative Maloney reintroduced the legislation on January 31, 2019, and it now has 48 bipartisan cosponsors. The bill would authorize the U.S. Secretary of Education to award grants to educational entities to carry out Holocaust education programs and conduct periodic workshops to provide teachers with technical assistance on how to most effectively teach Holocaust education. Different than previous versions, the 2019 Never Again Education Act now would authorize some public funding ($2 million per year) and private donations in a classic public-private partnership to provide teachers with the resources and training they need to teach children the important lessons of the Holocaust.

Representative Maloney has asked us to generate and disseminate the sign-on letter in support of H.R. 943. This will be helpful in persuading the House Education and Labor leadership to pass the bill. Many of you signed onto a similar letter last June. If supporting Holocaust education is important to your organization, please do the following:

  • Sign your national, state or local organization/agency (no individuals) onto the letter by Friday, March 29, 2019;
  • Forward this email to other groups in your network that you think might be interested in this legislation; and
  • Urge your Member of Congress to cosponsor H.R. 943. Current bill cosponsors include: Representatives Bacon (R-NE), Banks (R-IN), Boyle (D-PA), Brownley (D-CA), Carbajal (D-CA), Carson (D-IN), Cartwright (D-PA), Cisneros (D-CA), Clarke (D-NY), Cohen (D-TN), Correa (D-CA), Curtis (R-UT), Susan Davis (D-CA), DeSaulnier (D-CA), Deutch (D-FL), Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Engel (D-NY), Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Fortenberry (R-NE), Katko (R-NY), Kind (D-WI), Peter King (R-NY), Lofgren (D-CA), Lowenthal (D-CA), McCaul (R-TX), McGovern (D-MA), McNerney (D-CA), Meng (D-NY), Nadler (D-NY), Norcross (D-NJ), Norton (D-DC), Pallone (D-NJ), Raskin (D-MD), Rice (D-NY), Rose (D-NY), Schakowsky (D-IL), Schneider (D-IL), Shalala (D-FL), Adrian Smith (R-NE), Stefanik (R-NY), Suozzi (D-NY), Trone (D-MD), Vela (D-TX), Wasserman Schultz 9D-FL), Weber (R-TX), Wexton (D-VA), Frederica Wilson (D-FL), and Zeldin (R-NY)
