Based on your thoughts and recommendations, JFNA and NJHSA submitted comments to the Administration for Community Living (ACL) in response to a request for information in advance of the agency’s rewriting of the Older Americans Act (OAA) regulations. The OAA regulations have not undergone a major redrafting like this since 1988 and the impact for local agencies could be significant. ACL will now consider the comments it received and promulgate a draft set of regulations. The field will then have an opportunity to provide comments to ensure that the new regulations reflect the needs of member agencies providing services to seniors (such as transportation, nutrition, case management, caregiving or other services members provide). ACL does not know when it will complete this part of the regulatory process, but we estimate that the draft regulations will be produced early in 2023. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
