More than 250 people attended the recent grand opening of Jewish Community Services of South Florida’s new Kosher Food Bank. Aside from providing kosher food to more than 380 needy families throughout Miami-Dade County, including more than 120 seniors and 75 Holocaust survivors, the newly expanded Kosher Food Bank also has a client computer center where those with limited internet access could apply for jobs or access government benefits. It also has a volunteer center that has provided a space for volunteer groups, including students, to gather and learn about food insecurity and organize projects to benefit the food bank. This facility has also doubled as an event space for lunch n’ learns, birthday parties and other gatherings that would increase awareness about the food bank’s work. Learn more in the Sun Sentinel.
