What We Saw at the Border

HIAS, together with colleagues at the Anti-Defamation League, led a delegation of 27 leaders of American Jewish organizations to witness the crisis in the way our government treats immigrants and asylum seekers, and to better understand how U.S. policies affect people on both sides of the border.

Mark Hetfield, HIAS’ CEO and others met with dedicated people who are working to improve the situation for migrants and asylum seekers and we met with some of the migrants themselves, hearing their stories of suffering, family separation, and bravery.

They listened, took a lot of notes, and a lot of photos as well. You can see some in the slideshow just published on HIAS.org.

Their work on this issue is far from done, but with the support of the American Jewish community, that’s you, we will make progress. We hope you will continue to stand with us.
