Overview

What We Do

Members join our Network to connect with and learn from each other. They are then able to apply these best practices at their agencies, to maximize their impact and to better serve their communities.  We have two centers that provide these valuable services: The Center for Innovation and Research and the Center for Membership and Engagement. Click the links to learn more about the work going on in each center and how it benefits our members.

Innovation & Research

Addressing Our Sector's Most Pressing Challenges

The Network’s Center for Innovation & Research forges strategic alliances with universities, government bodies, corporations, and philanthropic entities. This collaborative approach is key to creating, evaluating, and implementing solutions for current challenges. Through this framework, the Center provides ongoing training to member agencies, enhancing their ability to adopt innovative processes. This helps them integrate new strategies and planning methods to develop inventive solutions to these challenges.

This important organizational Inventory covers a range of topics pertaining to The Network’s member organizations, including clientele and services; personnel and organizational structure; compensation and benefits; governance; financials; data collection and management; partnerships, licenses and accreditations; diversity, equity and inclusion; strengths and areas for growth. The information collected in this Inventory is incorporated into a searchable database accessible to The Network’s member organizations. In addition, each participating organization will receive a customized report displaying its own information alongside aggregated information from its fellow members, to provide additional context.

The toolkit aims to support and strengthen the sector’s ability and capacity to respond to emergencies through pre-planning and preparedness. The goal, to provide member agencies with a roadmap that can be used to develop their own unique emergency plans to ensure the safety and security of their clients and staff along with the maintenance of their operations.

The Network’s Emergency Preparedness Toolkit is a result of collaboration, thought leadership, expertise, resources and lessons learned from Network member agencies. More than 15 member agencies shared over 70 sample documents that would support other member agencies in their emergency planning and response endeavors.

The Emergency Preparedness Toolkit is an offering of The Network’s Center for Innovation and Research, with funding from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. The toolkit was written in collaboration with the expertise of the Joan and Stanford Alexander Jewish Family Service.

Project EM is a revolutionary, one-of-a-kind national program that is designed to meet the needs of unemployed and underemployed job seekers across the U.S. and support regional and national companies with developing talent pipelines. Targeting historically underserved individuals such as refugees, immigrants, women, older workers, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, re-entry individuals, survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse, and those with disabilities. By working collaboratively, instead of competitively, Project EM is able to meet the needs of all clients by leveraging the knowledge, skills and connections of its 19 participating agencies. Project EM is focused on serving job seekers who have historically not had access to reliable workforce and career counseling supports.

The Jewish community is dedicated to promoting the wellbeing of young people. With BeWell, you will find support and tools to respond to the growing mental health concerns of young people aged 12 to 26, and resources for parents, caregivers, and Jewish professionals.

In an uncertain world, young people face increasing levels of stress, anxiety, depression, and loneliness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warns of an accelerating mental health crisis, with more than 4 in 10 teens reporting that they feel “persistently sad or hopeless,” and 1 in 5 saying they have contemplated suicide.

The Jewish community is mobilizing to create the support young people need as they face challenging moments.

The Academy for Education and Advancement is The Network’s center for professional development and educational opportunities, offering a wide range of highly interactive courses that can be taken 100% online. These web-based courses are led by expert instructors, many of whom are nationally known authors. All courses are affordable, informative, practical, convenient, and designed with you in mind.

In 2023, The Network, alongside 20 other major Jewish umbrella organizations joined Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition as a founding partner. The Coalition aims to mobilize Jewish communities everywhere in taking climate action. Together, we recognize the existential threat and moral urgency of climate change and are committed to building a sustainable future.

The Network has proudly released its 2024 Annual Climate Action Plan, outlining our strategic priorities for both reducing our organizational greenhouse gas emissions and mobilizing our broader network to engage in climate action. This year’s report includes both a reflection on our 2023 Climate Action Plan, including successes and challenges, as well as our goals for expanding our climate action work in the year ahead.

The Network members as a whole are affected by climate change, as it has already begun impacting our work with vulnerable populations in their communities, and often find themselves on the front lines of the impacts of climate change. Additionally, The Network’s member agencies have opportunities to green their operations.

The global climate crisis is a historical inflection point for our planet, our communities, and our people. Jewish tradition compels us to respond. The Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition offers a robust structure supporting organizations to develop their own climate action plan and take action in the years ahead. We invite and encourage you to join us as Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition members. To learn more and register, visit adamah.org/coalition. There is no cost to join to Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition.
