The Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies is deeply disappointed in the United States Congress’ decision to institute unprecedented cuts to the Medicaid and SNAP programs as part of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.” These cuts to Medicaid and SNAP are the largest in history to these pillar programs. They are an abdication in the government’s responsibilities to support the most vulnerable members of our society. Opposing these devastating cuts has been our Network’s top advocacy priority in 2025. We were proud to partner with a broad range of faith-based organizations, Members of Congress, and community stakeholders in these efforts.

Millions of people in every state and district across the country will lose healthcare coverage and benefits that enable them to put food on the table. This includes millions of children, people with disabilities, older adults, and non-citizens. Our 160 Jewish human service provider agencies in the U.S. will be on the frontlines of responding to this increased need, while receiving significantly less support from the government for the care and well-being of our neighbors.

Our Network stands committed as ever to supporting and strengthening our member agencies as they continue their vital work serving the most vulnerable in their communities through essential programs and services.
