The Administration for Community Living (ACL) has announced the availability of approximately $3 million to support the Elder Justice Innovation Grants Program for Fiscal Year 2025. This funding opportunity supports the development and advancement of innovative approaches to prevent and respond to elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

ACL plans to award up to eight cooperative agreements, each fully funded for 36 months with a total award of up to $500,000 per project.

Grant Focus Areas

Despite growing awareness, research on the maltreatment of older adults and adults with disabilities remains limited. ACL is seeking proposals that will implement and test prevention or intervention initiatives aimed at:

  • Preventing adult maltreatment or intervening early to prevent further harm

  • Measurably improving outcomes for individuals at risk of, or experiencing, maltreatment

Examples of desired outcomes include:

  • Reducing the number of adults experiencing or at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation

  • Preserving autonomy and reducing the recurrence of maltreatment

  • Restoring safe, healthy living situations
