We are pleased to share exciting news from our colleagues at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis (JFCS): Amy Weiss has been named the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer. She will officially step into the role at the start of 2026, following the retirement of longtime CEO Judy Halper at the end of this year.

The appointment follows a national search led by the JFCS CEO Search Committee, co-chaired by Board President Howard Hoffman and Immediate Past President Natalie Zamansky. Amy was unanimously selected for her deep understanding of the organization, her commitment to community advocacy, and her visionary leadership style.

“Amy stood out for her deep understanding of our organization, her commitment to community advocacy, and her ability to lead with both vision and heart,” said Howard Hoffman, JFCS Board President.

“Her leadership in developing our new strategic plan confirmed for us that she is not only ready, but excited to guide our staff and community forward,” added Natalie Zamansky.

Amy Weiss brings over 20 years of experience in human services and has served in various leadership roles at JFCS over the past eight years, including Chief Program Officer and Director of Community Services. She is known for her collaborative leadership and inclusive approach to community building.

In her own words, Amy shared:

“I’m honored to serve as JFCS’ next CEO. I look forward to continuing our legacy of compassionate, person-centered care, grounded in our values of compassion, integrity, innovation, collaboration, and inclusion—and our commitment to Tikkun Olam, the Jewish value of repairing the world.”

Current CEO Judy Halper, who announced her retirement earlier this year, has led the organization for over 30 years, including 20 as CEO. She has been praised for her strength, humility, and unwavering commitment to serving all who turn to JFCS for support.

“Amy is a thoughtful and strategic leader who is deeply committed to our mission,” said Halper. “Her calm determination, flexibility, and passion for serving the community will serve JFCS well. I couldn’t be more pleased to see her take on this role.”

JFCS will honor Judy Halper and her remarkable legacy at a community celebration later this year. Event details will be shared soon.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Amy Weiss and deep gratitude to Judy Halper for her decades of impactful leadership.
