The Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies is proud to celebrate a leadership transition at member agency Jewish Family Service of Seattle, which has appointed Rebekah Shrestha as its next Schocken Family CEO. Rebekah will officially assume the role on October 1, 2025.
A Seattle native with long-standing ties to the local Jewish community, Rebekah brings more than two decades of experience in strategy, communications, and movement-building. She currently serves as Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at the 92nd Street Y (92NY), where she leads the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact and founded the organization’s Office of Strategic Planning.
Rebekah’s professional background includes leadership roles at McKinsey & Company, Purpose, and Obama for America. Her work is deeply rooted in Jewish values and a commitment to social justice, making her well-suited to lead JFS Seattle into its next chapter.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rebekah to Jewish Family Service,” said Eric LeVine, President of the Board of Directors. “Her passion for our mission, strategic vision, and deep respect for our staff and clients stood out throughout the interview process.”
Rebekah steps into the role following the exceptional 12-year tenure of Will Berkovitz, whose visionary leadership has been a guiding force for both JFS and the broader Seattle community. Will will remain with JFS through September 12, with interim leadership provided by senior executives Lisa Golden and Kristin Winkel.
“Growing up in Seattle’s Jewish community, JFS helped instill in me a lifelong commitment to justice, dignity, and care for others,” said Shrestha. “To now lead this organization—alongside such a passionate and mission-driven team—is a true privilege.”
Please join us in congratulating Rebekah and JFS Seattle on this exciting new chapter.
