The Network was proud to be represented by Elizabeth Enck, Director of Workforce Programs, at the grand opening of CVS Health’s newest Workforce Innovation and Talent Center (WITC) in Columbus, Ohio—an exciting development in community-based workforce development and health equity.

Located at the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Rosewind Community Center, the new WITC offers free workforce training and access to essential health services. The initiative is a collaboration between CVS Health and numerous local partners, including Columbus Jewish and Family Services, a Network member agency, as well as Eckerd Connects, Columbus State Community College, YouthBuild, and others.

We were especially proud to have Elizabeth Enck, The Network’s Director of Workforce Programs, in attendance to celebrate this important milestone. This initiative represents a powerful example of how partnerships can expand access to opportunity and improve community well-being—key priorities of our broader Project EM efforts.

“At our new WITC, we’re dedicated to helping individuals build skills for in-demand jobs, like pharmacy technicians,” said Sheryl Burke, SVP of Corporate Social Responsibility and Chief Sustainability Officer at CVS Health. “Working alongside the Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority and various local workforce organizations, we aim to make it easier for community members to access and find meaningful employment.”

The new Columbus center offers training tracks for roles including pharmacy technician, customer service associate, call center associate, and retail associate. A simulated CVS store within the facility enables hands-on learning experiences that prepare participants for real-world scenarios.

Participants who complete the program are eligible to apply for employment at CVS Health and will also benefit from the on-site Aetna Community Resource Center, which provides services including:

  • Health needs assessments and education

  • Navigation support for health benefits

  • Access to computers and teleconferencing technology

  • Referrals to local health care providers

This initiative is already transforming lives. Columbus resident Triunity Darden, now a certified pharmacy technician at CVS Health, credits the program for helping her rebuild after job loss and find a fulfilling career path—one her sister is now pursuing as well.

“Now that I’m a certified pharmacy technician, I feel accomplished and motivated to advance in my career. Knowing I’m making a difference in people’s lives keeps me going,” said Darden.

CVS Health has a long-standing commitment to the Columbus region. The company has invested over $79 million in affordable housing across Ohio, provided thousands of free screenings through its Project Health initiative, and now, through the WITC, is investing in long-term workforce development and community empowerment.

We commend CVS Health and all participating partners for their vision and commitment.
