The Jewish Federations of North America’s (JFNA) Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care (the Center) held its Compassion in Action: Advancing Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed (PCTI) Care for Older Adults Training Workshop in Washington, DC, from June 23–25. The workshop was designed for recipients of grants from the Center.

The Network holds a National Network Program grant from the Center to utilize technology, supported by a PCTI approach, to reduce social isolation among older adults with a history of trauma. In addition to Network staff, professionals from many Network member agencies attended, and The Network also participated as an exhibitor.

Representing The Network were Reuben D. Rotman, President & CEO, and Linda Blumberg, Vice President of Development. Linda co-presented a workshop with Daryna Marchenko-Bernhardt, Technology and Volunteer Coordinator at Council for Jewish Elderly Senior Life (CJE SeniorLife). Their session highlighted how innovative technology, paired with a PCTI framework led by care managers, can reduce social isolation among Holocaust survivors and other older adults with a history of trauma.

With funding from the Center, The Network has enabled member agencies to offer clients an innovative Israeli technology platform, Uniper Care, which provides home TV and mobile-based solutions. Network member agencies were well represented at the workshop, both as participants and presenters.
