The Network is proud to co-sponsor HIAS’ Eighth Annual Refugee Shabbat, taking place March 13–14, 2026. This annual event invites congregations, organizations, and individuals to recognize the impact of the global Jewish movement supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced people—and to engage their own communities in learning and action.
At a time of devastating cuts to refugee resettlement and international humanitarian programs, Refugee Shabbat offers a moment to reflect, recharge, and reaffirm our shared commitment to this work. Hineni. We are here — and we are not going anywhere.
How to Participate
Participants can observe Refugee Shabbat in many ways: integrating liturgical readings, dedicating sermons or text studies to the refugee crisis, hosting a community speaker, or planning educational programs before or after services. Upon registration, individuals and congregations receive access to HIAS’ full library of resources, including readings, talking points, text studies, and action steps.
If March 13–14 doesn’t fit your calendar, you may register and select another date in Winter/Spring 2026. Canadian participants will receive materials from JIAS Toronto.
